Provides support and care for terminally ill patients, with a prognosis of 6 months or less, and their families.
- Hospice is a philosophy of care that affirms the basic dignity and worth of life.
- Hospice views dying as a normal process.
- Hospice cares for terminally ill patients and families in their homes where they are supported to live as fully and self determining as possible.
- Hospice uses a team approach which recognizes the emotional, social, and spiritual needs of the patient and family as well as his/her medical needs.
- Hospice's caring team is a blending of multidisciplinary staff and lay volunteers with a variety of backgrounds and talents.
- Hospice provides continued support to the family after the death of their love one.
Services include:
- Skilled Nursing - in home care focusing on pain and symptom control for the individual.
- Nurse Aide - to assist with personal care.
- Respite Aide - to provide respite for the families.
- Hospice Volunteers - trained in handling the varied needs of the patient/family.
- Social Workers - psychosocial needs of the patient/family.
- Bereavement Support - provided up to one year after the patient dies.On-call services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
*Hospice of Craven County Health Department gratefully accepts contributions, memorials and honorarium gifts. Such gifts are an essential part of the agency's operating budget and enables us to serve patients who are uninsured or are unable to pay for Hospice services.*
